Hola a todos! We are two business students from Stenden university in Leeuwarden and we are currently living in Spain for 5 months. We are here in order to study at a different university, get to know a new culture, new people and of course learn and improve our Spanish. We want to share our experiences (good and bad) with you and we hope you enjoy it! Hasta luego!

Parque Natural del Monasterio de Piedra en Zaragoza

So, last weekend Marie took the chance to be a typical tourist and joined a trip to an amazing natural park, 1.30 hours away from Zaragoza. We left Zaragoza in the morning at 9am with the bus, we had to change once and arrived at the park at 11am. It was 27 degrees and there was a major queue in order to get tickets....yes tickets! You had to pay for this 15€ entry but it was definitely worth it.
After receiving our tickets we first visited the old monastery, where they used to make their own vine. Inside it was nice and cold and we enjoyed being in the shade.

We left for the park and I really didn't know what to expect, I thought there might be lots of green and some waterfalls. BUT it was so much more than just that....We had an entire map with a walk that we followed, we had 4 hours to do it so we started right away. The first waterfalls were already impressive and I couldn't believe how beautiful the place was. We climbed up and down stairs or walked along paths and saw nature from its best side. There were many other people around but now I feel like I have been there alone because it felt so peaceful.

More WATEEEEER!

Here are some photos to give you an impression, but the best thing is still to come...After following the trial, we ended up at a nice green area, where you could buy some drinks and ice cream. So, of course we had some ice cream in the heat to cool off. Afterwards, we walked down some stairs next to a major waterfall, the stairs led us through the stones and later even behind the waterfall, which was simply breathtaking and thankfully wet and cold. We had a chance to cool off, but it didn't last very long.

Yes, that was behind the waterfall, and I absolutely loved it! In the photo below you can see the waterfall from the other side and we climbed next to it and behind it!!! Still unbelievable but it was an amazing experience. We had such a good time, after this we kept walking and ended up at a huge lake, which was filled with fish. Next to it, were many ponds filled with salmon, as the monastery has also a salmon farm.

Another highlight of the trip were two old ladies who also came from Zaragoza for the day to the park, they looked amazing. One of them was wearing a blue cap with EspaƱa written on it, under it she had a tiny bit of blue hair and was wearing her Nike Air Max, her best friend was also very trend with a flower shirt. Moreover, both of them had their smartphones with them and at the end of the day they asked us to take a picture of them together at the entrance of the park. They were too cute to be true and I loved the idea of them being together as best friends and going on a trip...

When you are in Zaragoza and you have some time, definitely come and visit this place!! It is amazing, it was definitely one of the nicest places I have visited so far and it was a great change to the normal day to day routine. I enjoyed it a lot and it was great to spend time with my favorite roommates.....
